Batting Cage Replacement Nets

1. No matter how durable your batting cage is, sooner or later you're probably going to need a replacement net. Be prepared by knowing how to remove and re-attach the net on your cage, and by knowing what to look for when choosing a net.

2. Most batting cages have easy-release net systems, so removing the old damaged net and replacing it with a new one shouldn't be a difficult task. Ideally instructions are included with the batting cage and/or net if the process isn't self-explanatory.

3. Make sure that you know the model and type of batting cage you own before you begin shopping for a replacement net. While many nets are made in standard sizes, not all of them have the same attachment mechanisms, and you want to be sure to get a net that's compatible with your batting cage.

4. Batting cage replacement nets come in a few different materials. Typically, nylon nets are the most durable and are designed for commercial play, weather resistance, and high-impact resistance. A nylon net will cost more than other materials, but its longer life-span may make it worth the price if you find yourself replacing your nets fairly often.

5. For a cheaper alternative to nylon, look for a polyethylene replacement net. Lightweight, easy to install, and designed for casual use, polyethylene replacement nets are more affordable and will work just fine for many situations. If you play indoors, take your net down between uses, or don't put it through a lot of stress during play, you shouldn't have an issue with a polyethylene net.

6. You should also consider the twine size, or gauge, of the netting you are purchasing. Net gauges are listed by number, with smaller numbers indicating thinner rope, and higher numbers indicating a greater thickness. Generally, the higher the gauge, the longer your net will last. Most experts recommend a gauge of at least #21 for casual use, and #36 and up for Little League play or more.
